For those still reading, hello my fellow simp’s of human progress!
The Meritocratic society is a new societal model that, if adopted, can structurally solve most global problems.
This article talks about how, if adopted, the Meritocratic society can structurally allow us to remove the root cause of uncivilized behavior in the society.
Let us now start the article by discussing what lead me to create the Meritocratic society from the perspective of removing the root cause of uncivilized behavior in the society:
The back story
The prevailing idea in our society is that we are a civilized society even though there are still many uncivilized behaviors that happen in our life such as murders, crime, bullying, rape, misogyny, racism, pedophilia, sexual misconduct etc.
So most of the world has mostly given up on the idea of extinguishing uncivilized behaviors but since I am a simp of human progress, I decided to make it my problem and find a solution to end uncivilized behavior in our societies.
I first had to understand the main cause of uncivilized behaviors in our societies. My first instinct was to try and blame these uncivilized behaviors on the poor economic situation most people find themselves in.
So I assumed that most uncivilized behavior such as crime, bullying, murder etc. will be extinguished once we achieve a post scarcity economy.
I quickly abandoned this thinking as I realized that uncivilized behavior is as prevalent in high and middle class societies (only reported less), as it is in low class societies and so although poor economic situations added to the amount of uncivilized behavior, it didn’t cause it.
I then decided to go all in on this problem and studied philosophy, psychology, sociology etc. to try and find the root cause of why people decide to behave in an uncivilized manner.
After years of studying, I found that most great thinkers such as Nietzsche, Jung, Freud, Plato etc. reached two conclusions.
The first was that emotions were not intrinsically bad, but actually bad, based on the society they are in.
A good example would be pedophilia which is taboo and evil in most areas while it’s a norm in some societies were children as young as 11 are married off.
An example of this is Estonia, with a marriage age of 15 or the 20 US states that do not require any minimum age for marriage, with a parental or judicial waiver.
So if a pedophile is born in such a society, they would be regarded as a good citizen even though they like marrying or being in relationships with children.
So every behavior is civilized in some societies and uncivilized in other societies.
The second conclusion most thinkers reached, was that all emotions are part of our personalities and hence no matter what morality we as a society choose, it will always make some behaviors which come naturally to the personality of some people, seem uncivilized.
After these two conclusions, most thinkers then make the conclusion that we as a society should choose a morality that is good for the betterment of society as a whole even though it will hurt many people.
This conclusion didn’t sit well with me as my goal was to try and find a way we can become a civilized society where no uncivilized behavior ever happens.
What startled me was the fact that these thinkers didn’t just suggest that we create safe outlets for people to express their harmful emotions as that was the more obvious solution to me.
Jung reached the conclusion that stereotypes or what he called archetypes were important for our growth and I couldn’t fathom why he didn’t conclude that we need a safe outlet in our societies that allowed us to embody different stereotypes or archetypes in a safe environment.
Nietzsche reached the conclusion that all emotions whether we consider them good or bad are important in our quest to gain knowledge and I couldn’t fathom why he didn’t conclude that we need a safe outlet in our societies that allowed everyone to express the emotions they want in a safe environment.
Wittgenstein reached the conclusion that most arguments and conflicts resulted from people playing different language games (talking or acting using different moralities) and I couldn’t fathom why he didn’t conclude that we need a safe outlet in our societies that allowed everyone to act different moralities in a safe environment.
So after my seemingly genius solution of building a safe outlet, I decided to try and think of how such a safe outlet would be built in society.
I then quickly figured out the reason most thinkers didn’t conclude this; It is not easy to build a safe outlet, because the logistics would be too expensive to manage, since to provide a safe outlet, we have to provide venues, characters and accessories for people to use to live different lives.
With the current rent prices and overall cost of living, only the rich would be able to afford such a service.
Since the current societal model was not in favor or designed to have a safe outlet for people to express their harmful emotions in a safe environment, being the simp of human progress I am, I decided to create a new societal model that had a safe outlet structurally built into it and a method for integrating it into the current society.
This process took me many years but I succeeded and the societal model I came up with is called the meritocratic society. Let us now discuss the meritocratic society:
Meritocratic society
Before we understand how the meritocratic society allows the creation of a cheap safe outlet for people to use to express their harmful emotions, we have to first understand what the meritocratic society is.
The meritocratic society is an intentional community consisting of meritocratic apartments that are governed by a meritocratic government. Let us now discuss the two:
Meritocratic apartments
Meritocratic apartments consist of houses connected to a food hub that handles all chores involved with food and a clothes hub that handles all chores involved with clothes.
When someone who lives in meritocratic apartments needs food or clothes, they order them from the food or clothes hub and they are brought to them by a pod that passes through small tunnels.
When they finish eating or wearing the food or clothes respectively, they return the dirty dishes or clothes using the pod that passes through a small tunnel to the food or clothes hub where they are cleaned and stored.
Meritocratic apartments don’t need a kitchen, closet, appliances, store etc. and hence can be designed to be simple enough to be fully cleaned by autonomous robots.
Meritocratic apartments reduce the cost of living because goods are bought and handled in bulk and save time for people hence it will eliminate most uncivilized behavior caused by economic situations.
After discussing meritocratic apartments, let us now discuss the meritocratic government:
Meritocratic government
Meritocratic apartments are fully dependent on the food and clothes hub which are collectively used by the residents of the apartments.
Hence for the concept of ownership of a meritocratic apartment to make sense, all residents must have the ability to influence and decide how the hubs are run and how the profits of the hubs are used.
Because of this reason, meritocratic apartments are governed by a decentralized government system that uses direct democracy called the meritocratic government.
The meritocratic government consists of institutions that residents can join through passing merit tests.
Once they are members of an institution they can vote on or propose bills to change regulations or policies of the government.
Hence residents of meritocratic apartments could pass merit tests for the food institution which might include questions about how the food hub operates or where the food hub buys its ingredients from, and when they become a member, propose a bill for the profits of the food hub to be used to purchase certain automation, start a garden etc.
After discussing the importance of the meritocratic government, let us now discuss how the meritocratic apartments will allow the creation of a cheap safe outlet for people to use to express their harmful emotions:
How meritocratic apartments will allow the creation of a cheap safe outlet for people to use to express their harmful emotions
The sheer nature and complexity of meritocratic apartments, makes it extremely expensive and complex to build by upgrading existing apartments or houses.
This means that, in most cases, meritocratic apartments will be built from scratch and people will have to switch from living in their current homes to living in meritocratic apartments.
This leads to the problem of what will people do with their current houses or apartments. Renting is out of the question, as doing so, will defeat the goal of making people live in meritocratic apartments.
If meritocratic apartments become the main form of living in an area, they will also lead to the close down of many businesses that rely on the current architecture where residents have to do house chores such as businesses that sold groceries, small shops, businesses that sold utensils, clothes shops etc.
So the fundamental idea of meritocratic apartments will lead to many of our current infrastructure dropping in value and having no use.
Because of this reason, once meritocratic apartments become the main form of housing in an area, they will be able to create a safe outlet for people to express their harmful emotions as they will have access to cheap venues, accessories and characters.
The meritocratic government will obtain venues and accessories from residents who owned houses, shops etc. that have been made useless or dropped in value because of meritocratic apartments.
The meritocratic government will hire people who have lost their jobs because of meritocratic apartments as characters who act in other people’s lives.
I called this safe outlet the community hub and when added to the meritocratic apartments run by the meritocratic government forms the meritocratic society.
Conclusion
Once the meritocratic society is formed in an area, people will be able to express their harmful emotions in the community hub and act according to the morality of the society in their main life.
Hence people will have no need to be racist, pedophiles, bullies, misogynists etc. in their main life since they will be able to live those stereotypes and many others in the community hub.
So my fellow simp’s of human progress, we can become a civilized society through making people live in meritocratic societies as they will be able to express all their harmful emotions in a safe environment.
I have explained the technical details of the meritocratic society such as how we can implement it, the prerequisite technologies needed, how the hubs work, how the government system works etc. in my patreon.
I have also written short stories set in a meritocratic society to help my fellow simp’s of human progress understand how life in a meritocratic society will be like.
So you can learn more and help fund the creation of the meritocratic society through subscribing to my patreon. I am currently trying to reach at least $300 a month so that I can start a YOUTUBE channel.
