In this article, we are going to be discussing how the internet of transportation, which is one of the infrastructures of MAMA WORLD, can help solve the rural transportation problem currently affecting more than 45% of the world population. Let us begin our discussion:
The rural transportation problem is the problem of providing reliable transport links to rural communities.
The rural transportation problem is a significant issue that affects many countries worldwide since 45% of the world population lives in rural areas and most of these populations are in developing regions.
Rural areas have a low population density which makes public transportation difficult and although this can be offset by having high levels of car ownership, certain rural groups (young, old or poor) always require public transport.
Increasing car ownership may put pressure on existing rural public transport, prompting a diminished service, which in turn encourages even higher car ownership, creating a vicious circle of public transport decline.
A solution to the rural transportation problem can be to build an internet of transportation which consists of small tunnel roads that connect the different locations in the rural area.
Autonomous pods can then transport goods and people (they are transported while lying down on a pod) to the different locations linked by the small tunnel roads.
Hence the internet of transportation doesn’t depend on volume like public buses or trains as they use individual pods and can be used by everyone in the community unlike personal vehicles such as cars since the pods are owned by the public transport system.
Therefore the internet of transportation can be used as a solution to the rural transportation problem all over the world.
